"’ve always known that the real workers in this country are often Mexicans, Chinese, and other migrants—the underdogs. I’ve seen them in kitchens, as dishwashers, cleaning bathrooms, picking up garbage, tending lawns, and working the fields and building the roads all the construction, sewers, etc. But I never truly understood their hearts, their thoughts, their struggles. Selene’s words showed me that they have the same dreams, the same hearts, the same desires as anyone else.
Now I find myself asking: How can I help more? How can I be put to use in a meaningful way? I want to do more than just feel sympathy—I want to make a difference.
